I first met Dennis and his late wife Pam when I joined the Oxford Spread Eagle Club where they were both active members and Dennis was on the committee.
The club held regular and well attended local lunches which they organized. However needing to find a new venue Dennis and Pam scoured the Chilterns testing out all the venues that seemed suitable and alighted upon the perfect location of the  Peacock at Henton where we have held the lunches ever since.
When circumstances meant that they could no longer organise the lunches they passed on the baton to me but continued to attend for as long as they were able.
Dennis will be missed and certainly is fondly remembered by the members of the pensioners club – a true gentleman.
